Description
We frequently hear in the media that children's behaviour is linked to their diet and that changing what they eat can help boost intelligence, concentration and improve behaviour. Children who have spent time in the care system may have had periods of poor nutrition, both pre- and postnatally. They may have less experience of healthy diets and a marked preference for 'junk' foods that can be hard to change. Food additives, food intolerances and fatty acids (fish oils) have all been in the press recently linked to behaviour. These notes look at some of these statements, the science behind them and what is the best diet for behaviour and learning.
